Student Workbook A is designed to be used in conjunction with the Teacher’s Manual for Intensive Reading Programs for Secondary Students. The manual (which includes Programs A, B, C & D) describes the student for whom Program A is designed and outlines the method and teaching strategies appropriate to students at this level.

Reading Program A is a 12 week intensive reading course designed for the student with moderate reading problems e.g. Reading Age 9.0 – 10.6 at age 12 years. Students would typically be within ‘normal’ general ability range. Content teaches advanced phonic concepts which dominate secondary texts and teaches relevant vocabulary. Reading gains of 3 years or more are common with this program. Suitable for years 7-11.
